Sundas and her team, are highly skilled in applying evidence-based interventions to support your child, your teen, and you [the parent]. We understand that parenting can be hard and, in all honesty, probably the hardest job humans have faced. That is why we ensure to work with you in helping your child thrive and aim to not only provide strategies in session to support your child but to provide you with tips and tools to take home. Remember, we have the skills, counselling techniques, and evidence-based strategies but when these are combined with your support you are likely to get the results you are looking for.

Behaviour Therapy for Kids

What is Behaviour Therapy for Kids and How Does it Work?

Children often don’t understand the source of intense emotions like anger, guilt, or grief, affecting their behaviour and moods. Internal Sunshine offers cognitive behaviour therapy for kids and teens to build positive thinking habits that support them through difficult periods.

What Is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Children?

  • Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a popular type of talk therapy that can help children identify and change unhealthy or destructive thinking habits that interfere with their daily lives. CBT focuses on preventing spontaneous negative thoughts that can make emotional moments more stressful for your child.
  • During therapy, your child learns how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected and how to deal with strong emotions in a healthy way.
  • CBT can help your child notice unhelpful worries that make them feel anxious or upset and rephrase them into positive self-talk. We support your child through this process as they learn healthier coping mechanisms with intrusive thoughts that lead to better behaviour and improved confidence.
